The Sumner County Democratic Party will welcome Kristal Knight, Executive Director of Emerge Tennessee on Thursday, Aug. 10 at 6:30pm at the party headquarters in Gallatin.
"We are excited to host Emerge Tennessee in Sumner County" said party chairman Tony Jackson. "They have a fantastic record of success at teaching the skills women need to run for office and win."
According to Emerge Tennessee, in 2016 over 330 Emerge alumnae ran for office across the country and 70 percent of those on a November ballot won their elections. "Several women have expressed their interest to us in possibly running for office in Sumner County" said party vice-chair Len Assante, "and it is our job to help them run successfully. This session is just one way we are doing just that."
Kristal Knight has extensive political and community experience, including staff positions with two mayors of Washington, DC and in the presidential campaign of Hilary Clinton. She is a graduate of Yale University's Women's Campaign School and lives in Memphis.
Emerge Tennessee, founded in 2016, is the premier campaign-training program for Democratic women in the state. The Emerge program inspires women to run, and hones their skills to win. Our goal is clear: to increase the number of Democratic women in all levels of public office. Emerge Tennessee is an affiliate of Emerge America, a national organization operating in 18 states
