Sumner County Week 8 Game of the Week

The Main Street Media of Tennessee Game of the Week makes its way back to the Wave Yard of Gallatin High School, as the Green Wave host their oldest rival, Hendersonville. The Commandos come in confident following back-to-back wins over 6A competition and the Green Wave are just as strong, sporting a 6-1 record.

This is the 57th meeting all time between the two schools, who have split the last four meetings. Gallatin leads the all-time series, 38-17-1.

The keys to the game are simple; don't turn the football over, stay in front of the chains, and win the line of scrimmage. The team that does that will have a favorable shot at winning the football game. Talent wise the game is even.

So, who has the edge? If any one team has the edge it's Gallatin. The Wave defense has played lights out this season and there is no reason to believe they won't continue that against the Commandos at Green Wave Stadium.

However, the Commando offense can be lethal. An offensive line that gets the job done, mixed with a capable quarterback like Brett Coker and sure-handed receivers, Hendersonville can put up points in a hurry, not to mention they have a stable of backs that can get the job done. The Commandos have three different tailbacks that have gone over the century mark this year (Hughes, Porter, Kincaid), and the Green Wave will have to make sure they are all accounted for Friday night.

Defensively is where the Commandos have struggled most this season. I'm looking at this unit to step up Friday night to help create an instant classic. Now, let's talk about the Green Wave.

Offensively, they have a healthy one-two punch in Ladarius Stewart and Jalen Porter. Stewart gets the majority of carries, but watch out for Porter, that man does not care, he will run through you offensively and defensively. Quarterback play will be key for the Wave. They need to get Sloan in a rhythm early and I believe they help him out with some easy throws to start the game.

This game has all the makings of a good Friday night football contest and I can't wait to be on the sidelines. The two programs respect one another, but that doesn't mean they don't want to win this game badly. This is the oldest rivalry in Sumner County, so to many people this is the biggest game on both the Green Wave and Commandos' schedule. Who will come out on top in the 57th meeting?

I'm rolling with the Wave.

Gallatin 28, Hendersonville 24
