Pope John Paul II High School presented Shrek The Musical March 10-12. MAGGIE BOLINGER

Pope John Paul II High School presented "Shrek The Musical" March 10-12.

The performance closely followed the movie Shrek, that is familiar to everyone, with the addition of songs performed by the cast.

The storyline is that an ogre named Shrek realizes that there isn't much in the world for him besides his swamp. Shrek is content with this until one day all of the fairytale creatures from the Duloc come to live in his swamp. Shrek sets out to talk to Lord Farquaad about allowing the fairytale creatures to move back in their homes. Lord Farquaad tells Shrek if he rescues Princess Fiona from the tower he will allow the fairytale creatures to live freely. In the end, Shrek and Fiona end up falling in love and all of the fairytale creatures overwhelm Lord Farquaad.

Sarah Gould (Fiona), Josh Humphries (Shrek), Jack Williams (Donkey), Greg Herzer (Lord Farquaad), Carlee Campbell (Dragon) and the rest of the crew put on a phenomenal performance. Theater teacher Zac Campbell was the director. It was an amazing job by the cast and crew!

Maggie Bolinger is a senior at Pope John Paul II High School and is doing an internship with Main Street Media of Tennessee as part of the school's Innov8 Program.
