Penn Station East Coast Subs the fast-casual restaurant known for its grilled, made-to-order sub sandwiches, hand-squeezed lemonade and fresh-cut fries, recently opened at 202 North Anderson Lane in Hendersonville in March.
Cincinnati-based Penn Station East Coast Subs features grilled sub sandwiches - including the chain's renowned Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwich - and cold deli sandwiches made to order with high-quality ingredients on hearth-baked bread. The menu also includes fresh-cut fries, hand-squeezed lemonade and chocolate chunk cookies baked daily in the restaurant. Penn Station offers eat-in dining, carry out and catering.
Owners Dave and Joyce Johnson and Chris Frederick have teamed up to bring Penn Station to the northeastern Nashville suburbs. It will be the fourth restaurant for the Johnsons, who also own three Penn Station locations in Illinois near the Champaign-Urbana area. The group plans to open two more restaurants in middle Tennessee over the next two years.
"Penn Station's menu features mouthwatering grilled sub sandwiches, fresh-cut fries and hand-squeezed lemonade," Frederick said. "All sandwiches are prepared fresh in full view of the customer using delicious hearth-baked bread, USDA choice steak and the finest meats, cheeses and vegetables. Our French fry potatoes are hand selected, fresh cut and fried in cholesterol-free peanut oil. The lemonade is made from scratch every day using hand-squeezed lemons, and the chocolate chunk cookies are super-sized and delicious."
Frederick, who will operate the new restaurant, recently moved to the area from Indiana with his wife, Jessica. The Johnsons are semi-retired and moved to the area from Indiana one year ago.
