The seventh annual Pedal for Paws bicycle event was held in Gallatin last Saturday. The event featured hundreds of area cyclists who took part in one of four different courses and distances - 61, 45, 31 and 14 miles.

The rides, which started and finished at the Gallatin Civic Center, covered scenic routes throughout Gallatin and Sumner County. The longer distance courses provided moderately challenging routes for more experienced riders, while the shorter courses provided routes that were suitable for riders of all ages/levels.

Safety and gear support teams (SAG) provided assistance as needed for riders on each of the courses.

The event sponsor was My Fraud Shield and all proceeds benefitted the Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance.

Founded in 2011, the Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance supports area animals by performing low-cost spay and neuter surgeries that can save animal lives. To date, the agency has performed over 40,000 surgical procedures on animals in Sumner County.
