The Beech Lady Bucs soccer team had little trouble with visiting Class AA foe Hume Fogg last week, defeating the Blue Knights 6-0 in 80 minutes of action.
The victory comes after a 5-2 loss to defending Class AAA state champion Clarksville earlier in the week, where the Lady Bucs jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then allowed five-unanswered goals to their former Class AAA counterpart.
Freshman Hailey Burroughs opened the scoring for the Lady Bucs in the first six minutes, beating the Lady Knights keeper from 25-yards out for the 1-0 lead.
Following a handball in the box from the Lady Knights, senior Natalie Lankster stepped up to convert the penalty kick and 2-0 lead with just 19:25 remaining in the first half.
The Lady Bucs scored twice more over the next 19-plus minutes, adding a back-of-the-net goal from Janna Claire Swafford and Jill Fuqua for the 4-0 halftime lead.
Swafford scored her second goal of the match 18 minutes into the second half from just outside the box in the bottom right corner for the 5-0 lead.
Burroughs added the last goal of the match, weaving her way in and out of traffic with just over five minutes left in the match for the 6-0 lead, sealing the win.
Beech will travel to Oakland on Aug. 9 to take on the Patriots at 7 p.m., before hosting West Creek on Thursday, Aug. 10 for its final preseason scrimmage.
"I thought we did some really good things tonight," Beech coach Jeremy Cooke said. "It was good to play competition that will be similar to the play you will see during the regular season."
The Lady Bucs drop down to District 9 AA and will likely face their biggest district competition in White House on Sep. 26 on Shackle Island.
