The Knights welcomed Battle Ground Academy on Friday evening for the team's first preseason scrimmage in prep for the team's August 18 opener at Whites Creek.
The Knights went 10-for-10 (10 plays before switching possession) for over an hour, with the Wildcats scoring once on the ground from Brooks Heagarty and nearly another on a long run from back Nolan Underhill.
Offensively, quarterback Ben Nixon got the nod with the first-team offense, but head coach Justin Geisinger was quick to build up both his quarterbacks, saying each one brings a different skillset to the table.
Brooks, more fit for the option style offense, is athletic and can make the necessary throws when called upon. Sophomore Haegarty can also use his feet but his strong arm makes him a viable candidate to start week one.
The Knights will practice the rest of this week before hosting Ravenwood on August 4 for a 6 p.m. scrimmage with the Raptors.
