The Hendersonville Police Department with the assistance of other local agencies will be conducting a roadside sobriety checkpoint during the week of July 1on New Shackle Island Road .
Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others every year in the United States. In a partnership with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, officers of the HPD and other local agencies will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
Officers will target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists. Additionally, Officers will be enforcing other traffic violations to include speeding and seatbelt violations.
HPD recognizes that roadside sobriety checkpoints are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving, and ask that everyone drive safely during this year's Independence Day holiday weekend.
