*The Republican Party of Sumner County's meets on the first Saturday of every month @ 9 a.m. at Hendersonville Christian Academy. October's speaker is 6th District Congressional Candidate, State Representative Judd Matheny. A buffet breakfast is available for purchase.

*Classic Christian poet Lydia Esmer will be giving a poetry reading from her book at the Sumner County Library in Hendersonville from 1-3 p.m. There will be light refreshments and books for sale.

OCTOBER 9

The League of Women Voters of Hendersonville will meet at 6 pm at the Hendersonville Library. The speaker will be Jo Ann Graves, executive director of The Transit Alliance of Middle Tennessee. Results of an extensive public input survey will be shared along with probabilities and possibilities of future changes in regional and local transportation options. The program will be followed by a Q&A.

*Key to the City "Bookmarks" begins at 10 a.m. at the Hendersonville Library. This book club is very unique - everyone brings the books or e-books she has read and presents her review(s) to those present. It is a wonderful way to get perspectives on a variety of books. The best part - we exchange books with one another. Another added benefit - a lot of laughs are shared. All Sumner County ladies are invited to participate. Call Rose at 447-5945.

*The Gallatin Ghost Walk celebrates its 13th year! The popular history/mystery tour of the Gallatin public square and environs tells the story of Sumner County's diverse and exciting history through spine-tingling tales of spirits and supernatural events. * The Women of Rome Baptist Church located at 1277 Avondale Rd. in Hendersonville will be celebrating their annual Women's Day at 2:30 p.m. Pastor David Tucker and Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church will be the guest.

*The French Lick Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution invites the public to the dedication of the restored gravesite of Henry Bradford, American Revolutionary War Soldier Patriot at 2 p.m. at 250 E. Main St. Parking is available at Aladdin Temp-Rite, Pinnacle Bank and Hendersonville City Hall. Bring your own lawn chairs.

*The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company will be holding Adult Improvisation Classes Oct. 16 - Nov. 20. Classes will be held on Mondays from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.(ish!) and will be led by Bakari Jamal King and Kym Sims at the Hendersonville Performing Arts Company's Rehearsal Space in Suite 203 in the City Square Shopping Center at 260 West Main Street in Hendersonville. Improv Classes will be $20 per class or $100 for the entire six weeks if paid in advance. To pay in advance, you will need to fill out an application. You do not need to attend the entire six weeks, and can feel free to just drop in on any week for fun and mayhem! You are welcome to bring adult beverages to the Improv Classes and non-alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the theatre. *HolidayFest's first ever House on Haunted Hill Costume Party, the largest and most prestigious Halloween Bash in Sumner County to benefit Salvus Center from 7 p.m. to midnight. Costume contest winners will win a cash prize and a Trophy. Tickets are $50 each and are found online at www.HolidayfestTN.org or for on sale at Ultimate Party, Sellars Funeral Home, and G's Meats.

*The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company will be holding a Student Intensive Oct. 21 - Dec. 9 for students 1st through 12th grades. (Grades will be divided accordingly.) Classes will be held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon. There will be evening rehearsals Dec. 11 - 14 with performances of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Dec. 15, 16 and 17. We will be studying Character Development, Audition Skills, Public Speaking, Improv Skills and Performance Skills. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is a Non-Musical with roles available for all ages. Auditions will be held during the Student Intensive process and everyone will perform in this production. *2nd Annual Hendersonville High School Band Mattress Fundraiser at the high school from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event link is http://bit.ly/Beds4HendersonvilleBand2017. Layaway and Delivery Available. Name Brands. Cash/ Check/ Credit Card. Chili Cook-Off will be the same evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Entry fee is $10. Prizes will be awarded. The menu for the Chili cook-off will include Chili, Cornbread, Coleslaw and Bottled Water for a donation of $7. Both events are open to the public. *HHS Theatre Department presents Dracula, adapted by William Mcnulty. Originally dramatized by John L. Balderston and Hamilton Deanne from Bram Stoker's world-famous novel, Dracula. Show time: 7 p m. Tickets $8 at the door.

October 28

* Hendersonville Home Bound Meals will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction from 7 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hendersonville High School Cafeteria, 123 Cherokee Road. Cost is $5. The silent auction ends at 10 a.m. HBMP is funded by donations from churches, clubs, businesses, individuals, fundraisers and grants. More than 97 percent of all monies received are to provide meals for the recipients in Hendersonville.

*Key to the City Potluck Supper Club starts at 6 p.m. Enjoy casual dining where you will feel at home while savoring wonderful home cooked food. Members and guests enjoy not only good food but also fellowship and they get to know each other better over a casual meal. Guests are welcome. Come alone or bring a friend.
