*Sumner County Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 240 will hold their Monthly Chapter Meeting. All Vietnam Veterans and Vietnam Era Veterans are welcome. We are here to support ALL Veterans. *About Book Club meeting from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. at the UT Extension Office in Gallatin. Selected book of the month is "Mrs. Mike," by Frederick Backman. *The topic for the next Explorastory meeting at the Rock Castle visitors center in Hendersonville at 6:45 p.m. will be 'Your Favorite Tales'. The public is invited to come along and share their stories of 10-12 minutes in length. This is a free event with no charge to the public. All are welcome.

*Sumner County Anti-Drug Coalition hosts Community in Crisis: An Open Town Hall Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Hendersonville High School to address the growing opioid epidemic throughout the community.

* The 6th Annual Gallatin Lions Club Gran Fondo Bike Ride will take place on beginning on the Public Square in Gallatin. For information, contact any member of the Lions Club.

*The Sumner Association of Realtors Community Outreach Committee is sponsoring a 5K run/walk to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County. The Be a Superhero 5K will benefit the SAR Build. to be held at 8 a.m. at Gene Brown Elementary School in Hendersonville. Runners are encouraged to dress up as superheroes; prizes will be given away for the best costumes! Registration is $35 (includes t-shirt) until Aug. 18; after is $45 (no t-shirt). *The Sumner County Democratic Party will host a summer picnic and fundraiser at 1 p.m. at the pavilion in Triple Creek Park in Gallatin. Tickets are $10.00 and available online and at the gate. Kids are free. Drinks, hamburgers and hotdogs are provided. Guests may bring a side dish or dessert if they wish. There will be live music, fun and games. Special guests will include State Representative John Ray Clemmons and State Senate candidate, Wade Munday. Exclusive holiday merchandise will be available for purchase.
