*The Sumner Association of Realtors Community Outreach Committee is sponsoring a 5K run/walk to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County. The Be a Superhero 5K will benefit the SAR Build. to be held at 8 a.m. at Gene Brown Elementary School in Hendersonville. Runners are encouraged to dress up as superheroes; prizes will be given away for the best costumes! Registration is $35 (includes t-shirt) until Aug. 18; after is $45 (no t-shirt). *The Sumner County Democratic Party will host a summer picnic and fundraiser at 1 p.m. at the pavilion in Triple Creek Park in Gallatin. Tickets are $10.00 and available online and at the gate. Kids are free. Drinks, hamburgers and hotdogs are provided. Guests may bring a side dish or dessert if they wish. There will be live music, fun and games. Special guests will include State Representative John Ray Clemmons and State Senate candidate, Wade Munday. Exclusive holiday merchandise will be available for purchase. *The September meeting of Lakeshore Quilt Guild will be held at 9:30 a.m. The meeting is at Hendersonville United Methodist Church at 217 East Main St., Hendersonville. *The Hendersonville High School Band of Gold will host the 29th Annual Hendersonville Golden Invitational (HGI) with the first band taking the field at 12 noon. Participating area bands include Watertown, East Robertson, Westmoreland, Harpeth, White House Heritage, Hillsboro, White House, Mt. Juliet, Gallatin, Portland, Beech, Station Camp, Siegel and Wilson Central. At 7:30 p.m. HHS Band of Gold will perform Beatlemania: Magical Mystery Tour/Lady Madonna, Eleanor Rigby, Blackbird/Yesterday and St. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band/The End. Admission is $8 per person/$2 programs. Concessions available.

*The Hendersonville Performing Arts Company announces auditions for It's a Wonderful Life! to be held at 6:30 p.m. at HPAC in the City Square Shopping Center at 260 West Main St., Suite 204 in Hendersonville. Looking for children and adults of all ages to participate in a cold read from the script only. Headshots and resumes are welcome but not necessary. *Community members 50 yrs. and older are invited to the lunch meeting "Young at Heart" at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Joey Holland and Kevin Hogan will present "Music From America's Songbook" by playing classics from Broadway, movies and the soundtrack of your youth. Lunch will be catered by Our Place.
