An 18-year-old driver who fled police at a high rate of speed on West Main Street Friday night has been charged with reckless endangerment and felony evading arrest, according to Hendersonville Police Department Sgt. Jeffrey Brewer.

While fleeing, the driver smashed into another car, Brewer said. Two juveniles were taken to Hendersonville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Since the crash involved Hendersonville officers in pursuit of the driver, Brewer said HPD asked the Tennessee Highway Patrol to investigate the incident.

The accident occurred at around 11 p.m. on Main Street between Sanders Ferry and Walton Ferry roads. The road was shut down for about three hours in both directions.

Police have not released the name of the driver.

The Hendersonville Standard will update this story as more information becomes available.
