The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) says that twenty people a minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the U.S. That's a total of ten million people a year.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Volunteer State Community College Office of Student Engagement and Support, in partnership with the Lindsey Wilson College School of Professional Counseling, will be hosting an educational presentation on the dangers of Domestic Violence and Intimate Partner Violence on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 12:45 p.m. and again at 6 p.m.
The presentations will both be held in the Wemyss Auditorium in Caudill Hall on the Vol State campus at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin. "A Journey through Domestic Violence" will be presented by Suzie Jones. She teaches classes in the Human Services and Counseling undergraduate program at Lindsey Wilson.
She is also employed as an outpatient therapist at Madison Primary Care and provides counseling to a wide range of clients. The events are free and open to everyone. For more information, call (615) 230-3390.
