GALLATIN - The District 10-AAA volleyball championship winner will be crowned Thursday afternoon at Station Camp High School when the Bucs of Beech battle the Lady Bison of Station Camp.

The two schools advanced to the championship game following wins in the semifinal round Tuesday afternoon. Beech defeated McGavock in straight sets, but all three sets were battles. The first finished a 26-24 winner for the Bucs after neither team could find breathing room all set. Tied at 10, 15, 19, and 24, the Bucs worked for two points together to end the set.

Beech always seemed to stay in front of McGavock. The orange and blue won set two by four points and set three by eight to take the match, 3-0.

"We have a plan to beat Station Camp, and we've been working hard on turning a few technicalities, but we feel confident and prepared for Thursday," Beech coach Kassie Earlie said. "It's going to take heart and a unified team, but we are ready for that."

The Lady Bison quickly took care of their semifinal matchup in Hendersonville after a sluggish start to the contest. The black and gold jumped out to a five-point lead, 13-8, but the Bison quickly erased the deficit to win, 25-19.

Station Camp got better and better the next two sets, winning 25-12 and 25-10 to claim the match.

"We just concentrate on what we know how to do," Station Camp coach Molly Yarbrough said when asked what the difference was in the first and last two sets. "Don't worry about what's going on and just play our side of the court."

Coach Yarbrough was also named Coach of the Year for the district but she was reluctant to take any credit.

"It's not me, it's the girls... it's so the girls," she said. "They work hard all summer, all off season, and they've put it together."

The Bison wrapped their regular season at 43-3 and are region tournament bound as well.

"I'm exceptionally proud of them," she said. "We've had some really tough games and battled, we've made a name for ourselves."
