2017 Sumner County Cross Country Championships

The Sumner County Cross Country Championship meet was held at Sanders Ferry Park on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017. The meet drew hundreds of high school and middle school runners from across the county who competed for individual and overall team championships.

Station Camp won the overall high school girl's championships, followed close behind by Beech. Third place was taken by Merrol Hyde. In individual performances, first place went to Faith Brown of Station Camp with a time of 19:48.27, followed by Merroll Hyde's Kaelyn Meier at 20:06.09 and Beech's Lindsay Ahlmeyer at 20:37.29.

In the high school boys' division, Beech took the overall championship followed by Station Camp and Merrol Hyde. Individually, first place went to David Ahlmeyer of Beech, with a time of 16:16.79, followed by Alex Ponce of Merrol Hyde at 17:04.99 and Coleman Midgett of Beech at 17:18.62.

Middle school boys' team top honors went to Station Camp, followed by Merrol Hyde and Robert Ellis in second and third places, respectively. The top individual performers were first place finisher Harrison Cline from Robert Ellis, with a time of 9:42.15, followed by Merrol Hyde's Parker Breitling at 9:54.49 and Station Camp's Ethan Lanning at 10:01.07.

The middle school girls' championship was won by Robert Ellis, with T.W. Hunter and White House Middle taking second and third places, respectively. Individually, first place overall went to Carmen Perkins of White House Middle followed by second place finisher Annabelle Proctor from Robert Ellis, with times of 10:57.55 and 11:02.91, respectively. Third place honors went to Delaney Niemiec of Robert Ellis, with a time of 11:08.86.

High School Boys (5,000 Meters)

Middle School Boys (2,500 meters)

  1. Station Camp 44 points
  2. Merrol Hyde 59 points
  3. Robert Ellis 61 points
  4. W. Hunter 85 points
  5. Westmoreland 126 points
  6. White House 152 points
  7. Knox Doss at DC 181 points

Middle School Girls (2,500 meters)

  1. Robert Ellis 42 points
  2. W. Hunter 58 points
  3. White House 67 points
  4. Westmoreland 74 points
  5. Knox Doss at DC 113 points
  6. Station Camp 180 points
  7. Merrol Hyde 186 points

At the conclusion of the championship events, a combined girls' and boys' junior varsity run was held.
